Located in Lake Manyara National Park, the saline lake Manyara is one of the most amazing lakes in East Africa. This beautiful lake is considered “the crown jewel in Tanzania’s lake system”, and must be visited by every tourist who wants to explore the world and observe scenic areas.
It is home to many species of fish, especially catfish and tilapia, and over 400 species of birds including pelicans, hornbills, crowned eagles, guinea fowl, egrets, and storks. One of the best features of the lake is the thousands of pink flamingos surrounding it. Animal lovers might also enjoy spotting and observing exotic creatures, such as rodents, lizards, and colorful snakes.
Guests can enjoy the unique views of the blue volcanic peaks and the giant baobab trees. This gorgeous location can be visited all year round. In the dry season, it shrinks to half its size, and is surrounded by salt flats. The scenic view of waterfalls, and the lush forests of fig, acacia, and mahogany trees make the experience special and memorable. Tourists may be able to find hot springs in the south of the National Park. This area is less visited, so it provides peace and tranquility as well.
In November and December, the region faces short rainfall, with thunderstorms in the afternoons or evenings. This time is very convenient for a visit, as there isn’t a high risk of game watching being interrupted. The dry season is a busier time, so these two months are more feasible for those who want to avoid the crowds, and avail lesser prices on accommodation, and bookings etc. April and May, being the wettest seasons, have the most rainfall, and therefore, the lowest prices. This is the best season for birdwatching, as the region is home to storks, spoonbills, herons, shrikes, kingfishers, pelicans, and cormorants etc.
Another reason why Lake Manyara is the most amazing lake in East Africa, is that it provides wonderful opportunities for photography. Along with the picturesque views, this spectacular location also provides great lighting, with conjunctions of sunlight, and storm clouds. At dawn or dusk, this area is even more beautiful, with the silvery morning haze, or the hues of pink and orange at sunset.
The area offers a range of possibilities for experiences, allowing visitors to do whatever their heart desires! Visitors may enjoy mountain bike tours, or choose to have an experience such as trekking or camping. Another option is to have meaningful interactions with the locals, as tourists may talk to, and dance with, the native Maasai people. Safaris, walking amongst the jade trees, observing the flora and fauna, and photography, are all amazing experiences that this beautiful lake has to offer, to ensure that the tourists have the visit of a lifetime.
With beauty, adventure, peace, tranquility, fun, knowledge, enrichment, and serenity, Lake Manyara is the most amazing lake in East Africa.
