A safari lodge in the Grumeti Game Reserve, Grumeti Hills is luxury redefined. It’s just a stone’s throw away from the renowned Serengeti National Park, making it a great choice for your safari travels.

The building has a lovely rustic frame and holds up a traditional thatched roof. This edifice houses the lobby, an intimate bar and the restaurant. Head to this place for Wi-Fi to keep in touch with everyone. This main building is centrally located and can house close to 45 guests. A small shop is also available in the building, in case you want to shop for souvenirs.

A wide terrace showcases some of the most magnificent views in the continent. You get a panoramic view of the landscape, no matter where you are at the lodge. This happens because the lodge is situated on one of the highest hills in the continent. Views include the mighty Grumeti River, a mere two kilometres away from the lodge and the plains of Serengeti, filled with interesting plants and animals, pretty much most of the year. This is wild country, and of course wildlife can be spotted through the year. In fact, the Great Migration makes its way further in the circuit from May to July and October to December. Every single spot in the Grumeti Hills property is a picture-postcard opportunity.

One of the highlights of Grumeti Hills is how eco-friendly it is. Both the electricity and the hot water used on site are completely solar generated. Rain water takes care of 50% of the camp’s needs. For the rest, a bore well is in place. The pool in the south of the property is built into the rocks and is also eco-friendly! It’s a great place to rest and relax for virtually every guest who visits because it comes with its own bar. There’s a spa close to the swimming pool and massage options, and changing rooms are available too.

The camp is a collection of about 20 tents, scattered on the southern of the hill. There’s a sense of uniformity in the canvas tents and each of them comes with bedroom, ensuite bathroom, terrace, shower, flush toilets and around-the –clock water supply. If you’re travelling with a family, you can stay in the family tent- it comes with separate rooms that are connected too. The tents are handicap-friendly as well.

One of the popular things to do here is a walking safari. Set off in the morning to Grumeti River, relax and enjoy a wonderful lunch and then walk or drive back to the Lodge. These walks are undertaken in the company of rangers from the Wildlife Department.

A thrilling adventure is in the night game drives. Open vehicles with especially high seats, lights that do not disturb animals and the company and guidance of an expert guide all make for a wonderful experience. This is the only way you can see nocturnal animals that don’t show themselves during the day. Between the day and the night safari, you have a very good chance of spotting more animals than might be normal.
