The tourism industry is in scrambles in the wake of the pandemic and foreigners are stuck away from their home towns. However, as the world eases lockdown restrictions after months of a strict lockdown, it’s time to deal with the fact that the virus is here to stay for long and we must learn how to live with it.
This involves staying up-to-date with the latest safety precautions to make sure you don’t contract the virus. After all, the world can’t stay in lockdown mode forever. It’s time to adapt!
Here is a list of precautions you must take to avoid coronavirus spread while traveling by flight:
- Make sure you’re healthy before you decide to hop on a flight!
Stay safe and keep others safe. If you’re showing symptoms of COVID-19, avoid traveling altogether because if you have the virus, you might end up infecting a lot of people.
- Keep your hands off your face!
One thing the pandemic has made us realize is how often we touch/scratch our faces! However, you need to break that habit and make sure your hands stay off your face. Scratchy nose? Avoid it! Want to rub your eyes? Well, you’re better off not rubbing them.
Your eyes, nose and mouth are the main portals of entry for the virus. It can’t enter through your skin. Therefore, even if your hands come in contact with the virus, you’re safe as long as you don’t touch your face!
- Wash, sanitize, repeat!
Carry a sanitizer with you whenever possible. Some flights don’t allow passengers to take aboard the plane because they’re flammable. Clean hands reduce your chances of contracting the virus.
Washing your hands with soap and water also works!
- Gear up!
Wear your personal protective equipment. If you have access to the N95 mask, wear it on your flight. Otherwise, wear a surgical mask. Make sure it fits you perfectly well. Don’t touch your mask while you’re wearing it! This covers two of your entry portals: your nose and your mouth so if someone coughs near you, the droplets won’t enter your body.
Wearing gloves helps too.
- Stay away from railings and supports
While you’re going up an escalator at the airport, don’t touch the side railing. You don’t know how many (dirty virus-infected) hands have been there and you don’t want to pick up the virus! So, avoid touching other surfaces.
- Keep a safe distance of 6 feet from other people
Your flight will not fly in full capacity until the pandemic is over. Every other seat will be left empty so that you’re far from the next person!
- Carry minimum luggage
The less luggage you have, the less chance of the luggage getting exposed to the virus! Once you get your luggage back at the pick-up point, make sure you open it using gloves and then remove all the items from it with clean hands once you’ve arrived at your destination.
- Avoid shopping and walking around at the airport unless absolutely necessary
Shops at airports can be very tempting! After all, who doesn’t like checking out a pretty bookstore? Nonetheless, you need to keep your temptations in check and avoid going into stores at the airport!
These are the basic list of precautions you must take to avoid coronavirus spread while traveling by flight!
Stay safe, fly safe!
