Whether you’re planning to throw a party with many friends or hoping for a quiet relaxing trip to let go of any stress, you can never go wrong with a Zanzibar vacation owing to its amazing beaches!
Any beach can be hyped up to suit for a perfect party, but only some are serene and tranquil enough to allow you to read a book and get absorbed into the pages, and here, we have a list of some of the best ones!
Bwejuu Beach
Resting near the southern tip of the Zanzibar Archipelago and only an hour and a half away from Stone Town is a gorgeous peaceful beach, the Bwejuu Beach. Playful crystal blue waves of the Indian Ocean lap onto the white sandy shores, the water gently waving hello to the strong palm trees lining the beach.
Bwejuu Beach’s peaceful atmosphere is like no other, undisturbed and pristine. The best place to sunbathe while allowing yourself to get absorbed into your favorite novel. You might even want to take a break in between to wander around the Jozani Forest, which is home to Colobus Monkeys.
Michamvi Beach
On the central east edge of Zanzibar is the Michamvi Peninsula, also known as the Michamvi Beach, and is divided into 2 parts. Michamvi-Kae on the west facing Chwaka Bay, and Michamvi-Pingwe on the east, housing a colorful lagoon with vibrant corals and beautiful coves in the middle of cliffs naturally decorated with many corals.
Both sides are relatively calm and peaceful. The perfect place to get swept away into your favorite book while palm trees dance in the light breeze as azure waves playfully crash into the soft powder white sand of the beach.
You would probably start feeling a bit puckish after enjoying yourself to the max, so the next step would be to indulge in a delicious meal at the Rock Restaurant, one of the most iconic in the entire world! It truly is a wonderful spot and can’t be missed!
Paje Beach
With picturesque sunsets and long stretches of soft pearly white sand, this beach along the southeastern coast of Zanzibar is a perfect spot to sit back and unwind.
This remote area provides the best opportunities to see marine life when low tide exposes some creatures such as crabs.
Another way to observe the creatures you may or may not have read about in various books and novels is to go scuba diving into the colorful reef lining the ocean bed. You could find turtles, starfishes, eels and many more! Alternatively, you can just keep reading your book at this calm and peaceful beach.
Jambiani Beach
Jambiani Beach is a quiet and secluded beach on the central east coast of the Zanzibar Archipelago. Unlike its northern counterparts, this beach is significantly less crowded and has fewer sea-urchins and rocks which look to poke your feet.
Observe palm trees gently waving in the wind to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean as it retreats at low tide, only to rush back up at high tide, excited to greet the white sandy shore of Jambiani.
With the beautiful view and pleasant weather, this beach is perfect to relax and sunbathe while catching up on your “To Read” list.
You could also go diving near the vibrant coral reefs just offshore, filled with a colorful array of fish happily swimming along.
If you’re a solo traveler who loves books, these are the best beaches for you! Tanzania is a great destination for solo travelers so you should have nothing to worry about. Here’s why!
