Planning to visit Tanzania but are on a tight schedule? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the perfect 10-day itinerary in Tanzania!
Day 1
Arrive at Arusha and then head over to Serengeti on Day 1!
1st Stop: The Serengeti
The Serengeti National Park is one of Tanzania’s most visited and highlighted places. The endless plains here require at least 3 days for you to truly observe the wilderness of the Park.
Rest at your lodge or camp after a tiring journey from Arusha. Then, head over and enjoy the view of the golden savannah and endless plains, packed with zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes. The scenic sights make it easier to guess why Serengeti is called one of Africa’s seven wonders! Enjoy the first day’s picnic lunch at the Naabai kopje, where you can spot the famous pink-headed lizards—followed by an adventurous game drive that ends at dusk.
Day 2
Day 2 begins with a hearty African breakfast. The second day would be a bumpy ride in the jeeps, so buckle up! This day is specifically called the ‘wild animal day,’ as you will be taken to places in the park where you can spot the tremendously diverse wildlife. From the Big Five to all the different kinds of herbivores, you’ll spot everything here! The day ends with a delicious dinner at our campsite.
You might even be able to spot herds of the Great Migration if you’re here at the right time of the year!
Day 3
The day when you go hot air ballooning! This means getting up early, roughly at 4 5 AM. The view of the Serengeti from the hot air balloon is simply surreal. So, don’t forget to carry a camera.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Head over to Ngorongoro the same day after your hot air balloon ride. Stay at your lodge and rest for a while. Spend the night camping under the stars.
Day 4
The 4th day will include an extensive game viewing ride and a picnic lunch. Head over to the rim of the crater and observe the beauty beyond you. To make up for the tiring game viewing ride, you’d be rewarded with a traditional African meal. Spend the night here.
Day 5
Wake up to the sound of birds singing and whispering. Go on a game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and try to spot the endangered rhinos.
At the end of the day, head over to Lake Manyara and spend the night at a lodge there.
Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara is known for its soothing and scenic natural beauty. A relaxing stop of a day here will charge you up for the last four days full of activities and fun!
Day 6
The first stop here is the Manyara Lake, where you can spot multiple animals quenching their thirsts from the freshwater. Then the guide takes you to a spot where you leave your cars and walk through the tree canopy at the ‘Treetop Walkways.’ After the walk, leave for the Flamingo Fly, where you can watch the vibrant sunset!
You can spend the night at any lodge here.
Day 7
Head over to Zanzibar first thing in the morning!
After the tiring safari days, Zanzibar holds for you the best beach activities!
The first spot will be a spice farm called ‘Hakuna Matata.’ The farm is very interesting as you’ll watch the local men climbing a 20-meter-high tree without any safety and with bare hands and feet. A thrilling activity to watch indeed. For the night, you have a plethora of restaurants and bars to cool off at.
Day 8
The second day is full of adventure! The first activity is paragliding. The experience of the 45 minutes ride in the air over the clear blue waters is truly unexplainable. Another activity is the pristine beach’s quad bike excursion, which would take around 3.5 hours, ending at dusk.
Day 9
Pack up well because you will be moving to Mnemba Island, which is one of the most executive private islands of Zanzibar. You will be accommodated in a beautiful resort where you can relax with a massage, munch on the delicious Swahili food, or go scuba diving or snorkeling with the exquisite sea creatures.
Day 10
The last day in Tanzania in Mnemba Island is planned lightly. Enjoy an exciting jet-ski ride in or take a long and last swim in the clear and deep waters of the ocean. Have a traditional and mouth-watering Swahili lunch and pack up for your departure.
