- Don’t flash your devices and gadgets!

When you’re traveling in Tanzania, you need to be careful not to flash too many gadgets, especially not expensive ones because they can become a target for thieves. In your room, keep bags and gadgets away from windows. Always keep your gadgets safe and inside your pockets / closed carry bags .
- Use Google Maps to your advantage!
There’s not a part of the world that Google Maps hasn’t covered yet! You can never get lost while using the map. It’s your best guide to any city or country, including Tanzania. Of course, you’ll need cell / data coverage to use Google Maps if you’re stranded without Wi-Fi!
- Get your local sim as soon as you land in Tanzania.
Communication is very important when you’re in a land far away, especially amongst members of your family/friends you’re traveling with. Get your local sim cards as soon as you land in Tanzania. In fact, they can also be purchased at the major airports of the country!
The cellular networks available in Tanzania include Vodacom, Airtel and Zantel. Vodacom is the most widely recommended, but it is best to ask which provider is best for the regions you’ll be travelling to.
- Don’t forget to keep an extra power bank with you.
You don’t want your phone to die out on you while you’re out exploring the country/city. Always keep your power bank with you so that you can charge your phone anywhere, anytime!
- Try not to connect to public internet networks especially for data sensate activity! You might be tempted to use the free and open Wi-Fi at the restaurant you’re dining at, but don’t do it! You never know which hacker might be sitting there, waiting to get some information by hacking your gadgets!

- Always carry a universal adaptor and/or a 3-pin-to-2-pin plug with you that will enable you to access all charging outlets! In some countries, the power supply is AC whereas in others, it’s DC. Make sure the adapters you’re taking work for that specific country. If not, make sure you get those adapters as soon as you land in the country! Otherwise, you won’t be able to charge your valuable items. Tanzania uses plug types D and G so it is advisable to have a travel adaptor.
- It’s a good idea to have scanned versions of your passports and identity cards available on your phones in case any mishap occurs! You don’t know when you might need them. Take advantage of technology and keep these important documents on your phone!
