- Pugu Hills Nature Forest
Pugu Hills is one of the oldest forests in the world! It’s home to a beautiful small lake, amazing trails and a Bamboo circle where you can meditate peacefully. The Jane Goodal trail was recently inaugurated, so don’t forget to check it out! The trails are easy to hike on and you don’t need a very high fitness level for them.

- Usambura Mountains

- Jozani Forest
Jozani Forest is located in Zanzibar, which is just a ferry-ride away from Dar es Salaam’s shore.
Take a hike through the mangrove swamp here. You can also spot Red Colobus monkeys, which are pretty rare around the world. In fact, this forest contains the highest population of these monkeys in the world.
To get the most out of your experience, make sure you book a tour guide so that they can tell you all about the monkeys and how to track them. Also, keep a bottle of water with you because it can get very hot and humid.
- Udzungwa Park
Take a hike to the stunning Sanje waterfalls. You can even swim at the foot of the falls! Alternatively, you can also take the circuit hike, which is a bit longer and more difficult than the hike to and from the waterfall.
